Approximately 150-175 children require emergency removal from their home each year. These children often leave with only the clothes on their back, and whatever they can quickly find to take with them. Project Suitcase provides the gift of a duffle bag to each child containing a soft blanket, stuffed animal, new pajamas and underwear, toiletries, toys and a McDonald’s gift card. Partnerships with law enforcement and social service agencies allow the bag to be given at the time (or shortly thereafter) each child is removed from their home. The response from foster parents and children has been overwhelming positive, and they report the duffle bag provides comfort during a stressful time.
